Biblical or Not

Is there a biblical reference regarding the title 1st lady? Where did the title come from. If it's not biblical why do we reverence it so highly?

Well i don't know if it has any exact biblical context. i think it is just a church by church kind of thing. i have been to churches where that is a highly regarded title and others where it is never mentioned.

No. The title "first lady" is not biblical. But then again, neither is "reverend". There are a great many titles and practices (particularly in the Black church, unfortunately) that are a result of culture and the traditions of men, and not founded on the Scriptures. But that's neither here-nor-there for now.

As far as the title of first lady is concerned...my understanding is that the connotation is in reference to the pastor of a local church also being the "president" of the church organization/corporation (e.g., his wife being called "first lady").

Not bibilical at ALL! It's more amazing to me that people accept this pathetic man made order. Recently I had a conversation with a pastor's wife who gave me a definition of "first lady" that someone gave to her. Which, by the way was Proverbs 31 with a twist. She proudly exclaimed that made her feel good about being called or regarded as a "first lady." WOW! It also amazed me that she didn't recognize that was a twist on the scirputre to benefit man is always the beginning of destruction. Just as the serpant put a twist on the word for Eve in the garden;

Genesis 3:4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.

If nothings wrong with the twist she gave me then that means that nothing should be wrong with Genesis 3:4 nor should there be anything wrong with the twist Sara put on the word that God himself told her directly. She, however decided to do things her way. What's wrong with Sauls twist on God's direct order? What's wrong with the twist the enemy put on the word when he approached Jesus coming out of the wilderness? Everytime we take God's word and twist it that does one thing. Makes room for the enemy to come in, take root and set up camp. This first lady thing takes us back to the beginnig...Man's need or desire to be more or higher than where God has placed him. God never ordained nor has he called women to such a position.

I was listening yesterday to R.A. Vernon. He was ministering the women in his church. He called it: Daddy and his daughters. In the midst of his sermon he asked "What if they had a first lady that was a trip?" He went on the say, "what if she was nasty acting...One who held back on personal things? He's got too many fine women in the Word Church for "LADY VERNON" not to be on her job." Okay at that point I flipped to another station becuase it seemed to me he had already made up his mind what he'd do. I also wondered what did any of that have to do with any of them? He (R.A. Vernon) like the pastor's wife I spoke with described the duties of a wife...ALL WIVES...Not a first lady. Besides why would any man who's married to one woman need to address her as FIRST...Unless there's a second:)

Okay Miss Konda, that was straight with no chaser. It's funny how many people don't question things when the majority is doing it and even sadder when it comes to the word of God because for one God will not allow us to just walk off the cliff because everyone else is doing it, He will show us through His Holy Spirit , or check us in our spirit man when something isn't right, then it's up to us to go to His word and check it out. That is why our personal bible study time, our personal prayer time is so important. majority or not if God ain't wit it then neither am I.

when we don't question what's going on according to the written word of God than just pass out the kool-aid, at least that way it will be quick instead of a slow spiritual death. We have got to stand up for what's write according to the written word of God and the spot light back where it belongs on GOD period!

If Jesus said "And I do not seek My own glory"(John 8:50) I ask this very real question, who are we that we should be so glorified?

I think that the title goes back to slavery when the preacher made a significance between his wife and the other women who were members of the church. It was to give her status that only being married to a preacher can give. God spoke to me about a week ago about that. He said, "Shawonia I never called My Daughters that". He sounded heart broken when He said it. Many of the practices of the so-called church break His Heart. It is pitiful that that title wreaks havoc in so many churches. Some women don't care if the man is already married they will do whatever they have to do to be the pastors woman, or whore, in the sense that if he cheats on his wife the other woman is his whore. I don't see any honor in being called a "first lady". I really see it as a burden, an unecessary one at that. I have known women to go through hell, literally, for a man who they believe is their husband in the Spirit. So they let him treat them like do-do until he gets the revelation that he is supposed to marry her. It's totally sick and twisted. I don't have any desire to marry a pastor or preacher. I am a preacher and two of them in one house is too much church for me. God has brought a wonderful man into my life. He is so humble and sweet. He only desires to be the wind beneath my wings. He is there so I can fly. He likes it that I am strong and powerful. I don't just have to sit and look pretty and wear hats. Anyway , that's all I have to say.
